The new app development program – Entrepreneur Camp – recently launched by Apple aims to support female founders into leadership roles within the tech sector.

Entrepreneur Camp is a new initiative designed to provide female founders, within the app space, with access to resources, networking and mentoring opportunities.

Applicants applying for the programme must have a working app or prototype and their app-driven businesses must either be founded or co-founded by women or has at least one woman on the development team.

The camp programme will have quarterly sessions for 20 app companies in each round but in its first pilot session, opening in January 2019, only 10 businesses will be selected.

“Apple is committed to helping more women assume leadership roles across the tech sector and beyond,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.

“We’re proud to help cultivate female leadership in the app development community with the new Apple Entrepreneur Camp, and we’re inspired both by the incredible work that’s already happening, and what’s sure to come.”

Chosen participants will receive a two-week immersive programme at Apple’s technology lab, guidance from Apple engineers, and support from Apple Developer reps.

In addition, each selected company will also get a year membership in the Apple Developer Program, access to the Apple Entrepreneur Camp Alumni Forum, and tickets to the next Apple Worldwide Developers Conference.
