NEWGEN Young Fashion Designers

The NEWGEN Fashion Designers Set To Disrupt The British Fashion Industry

Seventeen young fashion designers have been chosen by the British Fashion Council (BFC) to receive support through its NEWGEN initiative fostering the ‘very best emerging talent‘ in the British fashion scene.

This year’s winners will receive funding, mentoring, training support plus a show at London Fashion Week.

The NEWGEN scheme aims to build the next generation of high-end fashion brands with global appeal.

Since launching in 1993, the initiative has helped launch careers of other young designers including Alexander McQueen, Simone Rocha and Marques’Almeida.

Sarah Mower, BFC Ambassador for Emerging Talent, says: “Amongst this cohort, there are designers speaking up about things that matter- their identities, sustainability and ethical behaviour.”

NEWGEN sponsorship is awarded annually to both womenswear and menswear designers. This year’s scheme is also backing accessories brands.

The 2018 NEWGEN recipients are:

Womenswear brands – Halpern, Matty Bovan, Paula Knorr, Richard Malone, Richard Quinn and Supriya Lele;

Menswear brands – A-Cold-Wall, Charles Jeffrey Loverboy, Kiko Kostadinov, Liam Hodges, Nicholas Daley, Per Gotesson, Phoebe English and Wales Bonner;

Accessories brands – Alighieri, Isoceles and The Season Hats.
