Guerlain unites twenty international contemporary artists with its new art exhibition – Gaïa, what are you becoming? – to ‘shine light’ on the current threat climate change poses to the society.
Created as a tribute to the Greek goddess of the Earth, the exhibition will feature more than 30 pieces of modern art designed by twenty up-and-coming artists to stress the urgent need to protect the planet for the next generation.
Their artwork will focus on sustainability issues and each artist will be exploring this from two different perspectives – Wonders of nature and Impact of human activity on the environment – using installation art, photography, paintings and video.
The free exhibition Gaïa, what are you becoming? is part of the annual Foire Internationale d’Art Contemporain (FIAC’s) ‘Private Itinerary’ event – a celebration of the long-standing links between Guerlain and the contemporary art scene – and this [took place from 18 October to 8 November 2019] at the iconic Guerlain House, 68 Champs-Élysées, Paris.
Exhibiting artists are – Allora & Calzadilla, Julian Charrière, Ali Cherri, Russell Crotty, Mark Dion, Chen Duxi, Andy Goldsworthy, Max Hooper Schneider, Eva Jospin, Clay Ketter, Neil Lang, Ibrahim Mahama, Kate MccGwire, Fabrice Monteiro, Vik Muniz, Otobong Nkanga, Lucy & Jorge Orta, Sigismond de Vajay, Douglas White, Li Xin.
