These are some of the currently open funding competitions –
Energy Game Changer
Aim: Find innovative solutions to long-standing challenges faced by the energy sector, either by the development of completely new ideas or through technology transfer from other sectors.
Programme: Launchpad.
Funding: Investment of up to £2 million from both Innovate UK and Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.
Deadline for Video Submission: 11th May 2016 by 12pm.
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
Aim: A scheme helping businesses to innovate and grow by linking them with a university and a graduate to work on a specific project. The 3-way partnership can last between 12 and 36 months depending on the project and the needs of the business.
Programme: Knowledge Transfer Partnerships.
Funding: Part-funded by a grant and the amount differs for SME’s and larger companies
Deadline: Ongoing till 31st May 2017 but 2016 close dates for submissions are 11th May, 6th July, 7th September and 2nd November.
Energy Catalyst Round 4 (Early Stage Awards)
Aim: The Department for International Development is targeting innovative energy technologies from UK enterprises and academia, optionally working with international partners, which have the potential to transform energy access for poor households, enterprises and communities in developing countries.
Particularly focuses on sub-Saharan Africa and south-Asian countries where electricity grids are often unbalanced, unreliable or unavailable.
Programme: Innovate UK, The Department for International Development and The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.
Funding: Investment up to £9 million.
Deadline: Register by 7th September 2016 and submit by 14th September 2016 – Both closes 12pm.

Registration deadline, for both Mid and Late stage, is 8th June and submission by 15th June.
