CRL Accelerator programme

CRL’s Accelerator Programme Opens For ‘Product and Hardware Focused Startups’

The Central Research Laboratory (CRL) 6-month accelerator programme is once again open – Supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs running product and hardware-focused startups.

CRL is an accelerator, incubator, and co-working space part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund to continue their work of supporting innovative startups to create high-tech jobs.

The programme aims to help product-focused startups develop crucial areas of their business to help ‘accelerate’ growth and production.

Chosen startups are set to receive a £5,000 start-up grant, access to CRL’s four specialist prototyping facilities, support from their in-house product development team, one-on-one mentoring with a wide range of industry experts, direct connections with manufacturers through a trip to Shenzhen, and support in raising seed funding.

Previous winners of the accelerator programme, who have gone on to raise substantial investment and win entrepreneurial awards, include Aceleron, JOTO and Mimica Labs.

Ventures currently on the programme include innovative charging solution Waalflower, high-end furniture designer Animaro, eco start-up Chip[s] Board as well as Ignius, a tracking device to keep women safe when walking home, and innovative smart-glasses designer Gilassi.

Criteria for applying: –

  • A working or investment-ready prototype (it doesn’t need to be pretty);
  • The desire to build a scalable product based business;
  • A product or business model displaying genuine innovation;
  • Two or more team members are desired but not essential.

Find out more information about the programme – Deadline for application is 29 July 2018.
