Samuel Ibrahim – founder of Sam’s Cakes & Desserts – had long toyed with the idea of having his own food business but the decision to bake cakes wasn’t entirely out of passion – #EverydayNigerians.

Since 2014, Samuel has been running his own bakery shop with the determination to be successful in a country dogged with decades of poor governance.

In this short #EverydayNigerians video, Samuel shares his story as a baker in an unstable economy where turning to a life of self-employment seems to be the only reasonable choice.

“The year I attended cake school was a time in my life I had to face the choice of whether I’d continue with unfulfilling employment or take matters into my own hands.”
